It is being reported by various media publications that Xavi Fores, IDM Superbike rider with Ducati, could serve as substitute rider for Davide Giugliano at Round 2 in Thailand.

Last week, Speedweek.com pointed out that Spanish rider Fores would be the ‘best option’ to take the place of injured Giugliano, who may need up to 90 days to fully recover for the two broken vertebrae he suffered in Phillip Island testing: ‘(Fores) has the potential to fight for top positions in World Superbike. He would also have time to participate in Thailand because it does not clash with the IDM.’

For the season-opener at Phillip Island last weekend, Giugliano’s Ducati was ridden by three-time World Champion Troy Bayliss who made a surprise return to WorldSBK.
